Walk each room with three piles in mind. Anything worth keeping gets packed first, donations go in the car, and everything else can go straight into a trailer or dumpster. Pick the setup that fits your timeline

• 20-yard roll-off dumpster: Available now and handy when a cleanout stretches over several days. It’s $325 for 2 days with 3 tons included, $350 for 5 days, or $400 to $420 for 10 days, with $65 per ton over.

• Break down boxes flat so they don’t eat up space.
