Renting a dump trailer this fall? How you load it makes a big difference. Pack it smart and you’ll fit a lot more of your cleanout, remodel or yard debris in one trip. Here are the tips we share with customers around Temperance, Lambertville, Monroe and Toledo.
Start with the big, flat stuff
Lay old doors, plywood, paneling and broken-down furniture flat on the floor first. They make a solid base, and the smaller pieces can fill in around them later.
Load heavy items toward the front
Put the heaviest things (wet carpet, lumber, old cabinets) toward the front of the trailer, near the hitch, and spread them evenly side to side. A balanced load tows safely and dumps clean.
Break it down
Take legs off tables, cut up old carpet into rolls, and flatten boxes. Couches and mattresses take up a lot of room, so set them in early and pack the gaps around them with bags and smaller junk.
Keep it level
Don’t stack above the trailer walls. If the pile starts looking like a mountain, give us a call and we’ll help you figure out the best plan. An overloaded trailer isn’t safe to tow.
What to leave out
Skip paint, chemicals, tires and anything hazardous. If you’re not sure about something, text us a photo and we’ll let you know.
Not sure about size?
Our 13-yard dump trailers are great for a garage or one-room cleanout, and the 18-yard trailers handle bigger basement purges, roofing tear-offs and small demo jobs. Drop-off and pick-up are included, and the trailers are driveway-safe.
Rather not do the loading yourself? Our crew handles junk removal too: we load it and haul it away.
